Hellenikon Idyllion spoke
with the jury member Werner Schulze,
Professor at the University of Music and Art Vienna,
How did the jury
judge the received compositions?
....We paid attention on certain characteristics,
for example whether the five ancient disciplines run, long jump, discus, javelin,
wrestling became effective, whether the metrical measure of Pindar’s text was
converted, how the orchestra and the choir or speakers were used or how the
quality of a composition is jugged in general. We did not prefer any specific
style; It was important to try to go towards a new direction. We examined whether
the composer -by dealing with the topic- was able to develop his own view, with
the courage to find and express his own personal language. Further it was important,
that people who are interested in music are able to find an access to the musical
representation of the topic. The piece of work, which had a too popular style
or on the other hand a too avant-garde style one was less in demand.....

sofort Die weiteren Tage verliefen relativ gleichmässig- 9.30 Uhr Einzel- bzw. Wen wundert's! Simone Weissenfels

Hello Andreas,
school has started and we are back to the rainy northern germany. We already have the first photos and they are showing our lovely time in Hellenikon Idyllion. They remind us constantly of the warm soul of Hellas, of the scents of jasmin and roses, of the coloured beauty of oleander and palms, of the sun and the sea, of inspirated concerts and rehearsals and of the interaction between international musicians.
We enjoyed our time here in the garden of the muses, which was so exciting and at the same time relaxing. We want to thank you for the organisation of the concert and your neverending care.
The 46 students of the choir of the Otto-Hahn-Highschool will always keep the visit in mind as an unforgettable experience , as well as the 8 advisors and the grandfather.
We are glad about your idea to build up this cultural centre. So many people take profit of your work and spirit. You made us feel like at home.
I include a photo of the rehearsal at your institute, maybe you can use it.
For all your plans I wish you good luck, thank you. We will see again.
Best wishes, Ingrid (Klimke-Schmoll)

Critique on the 3/10/01 concert by the Youth Orchestra of Wil
soloist:Vicky Yannoula
Music critic Patra-Greece
Whoever attended the concert on Wednesday 3rd October at the Aigion Archaeological Museum Hall, had the opportunity to enjoy a truly exquisite performance of the Mozart's Piano Concerto No.21 KV 467, performed by the Greek pianist Vicky Yannoula and the Youth Orchestra of Wil-Switzerland.he rarely played cadenza by Busoni), followed the well-known slow movement played with superior artistry by the pianist who created a truly dreamliThe pianist, invited to perform by the director of the Hellenicon Idyllion Mr. Andreas Drekis and the conductor of the orchestra Mr. Martin Baur, managed to fascinate the audience with the directness and simplicity of her playing. Without any interpretational paroxysms and exaggerations, which are anyway not suitable to this popular concerto, Vicky Yannoula gave a fresh interpretation which, unfortunately, we rarely hear nowadays. The clear articulation, the fine and gentle touch, the effortless finger-technique and the music, always in priority, where some of those elements which made her performance so fresh and vivid. After the marvellous rendering of the first movement (where we heard tke atmosphere, then the last movement full of high spirit, clarity and liveliness, and lastly the audience's hearty applause which was well-deserved.
The orchestra, eventhough it could not stand up to the standard of the Greek musician, was generally satisfactory. In any case, the young pianist deserves to be congratulated and I hope we will all enjoy more of her interpretations in the future.

Stavros Koutoulogennis

Comment of
the schoolchoir
from
Hannover/Germany,
who visited us
f
rom July 16th to July 28th 2001.Translated from the german original.
Hello Andreas,
school has started and
we are back to the rainy northern germany.
We already have the first photos and
they are showing our lovely time in Hellenikon Idyllion.
They remind us
constantly of the warm soul of Hellas, of the scents of jasmin and roses,
of the
coloured beauty of oleander and palms, of the sun and the sea, of inspirated
concerts and rehearsals and of the interaction between international musicians.
We enjoyed our time
here in the garden of the muses, which was so exciting
and at the same time relaxing. We want to thank you for the organisation
of the concert and your neverending care.
The 46 students of the
choir of the Otto-Hahn-Highschool will always keep
the visit in mind as an
unforgettable experience , as well as the 8 advisors
and the grandfather.
We are glad about your
idea to build up this cultural centre. So many people
take profit of your work
and spirit. You made us feel like at home.
I include a photo of the rehearsal at your institute, maybe you can use it.
For all your plans I wish you good luck, thank you. We will see again.
Best wishes, Ingrid (Klimke-Schmoll)
